Cool. I will totally concede to the EPIC stress damage instead of the Instadeath.
It’s purely a bounty, no chance of it randomly showing up and messing with people you have to go looking for it. I have done the whole RANDOMLY ARRIVES bit and it does not end well. It’s better folks come to my events willingly.
I tried to keep it as close to the mythical monster as possible. So I get that just naming someone to death is a super dodge move but the purist in me wanted to try anyway. 😛

hey, I got an idea for a mini-mini-boss, It’s not complete and it’s not exactly scary, but it could be interesting. I already posted this in the OOC thread, but someone suggested I post it here instead.

The general idea is that it’s the combat expert/weapon and armor smith/quartermaster of some group of enemies, either the brigands, fish-men, or swine, or possible, though not likely, the cultists or undead. He’ll have a high protection since he has access to his groups supplies. exactly what each of these enemy’s attacks are depend completely on which group he’s part of. he won’t have any really significant abilities, in fact most of his attacks will probably just be identical to attacks of other enemies in his group. The biggest danger he’ll pose is to his reinforcements, he’ll have the ability to call for aid, which has a chance to summon some number of enemies from his group that he can place between him and the heroes (i.e. he tries to stand in the back of his party). an interesting aspect about this enemy is that he actually does not want to fight, he just wants to protect his supplies. because of this, the heroes always have the option to run away from the combat without fear of being followed. if you are able to beat this enemy, there is a nice rewards for it, though gold is not likely. you basically just raided one of the enemies supply places, so they have a lot of gear, but since gold doesn’t really have a practical purpose in combat, they don’t store it in these depots.

so that’s the general idea of the enemy. they’re really not a mini boss, but their not a basic enemy either. If I do refine it to something I like, this won’t have to be something I control. It’s something that anyone could add to a dungeon as a possible bonus reward for their players. let me know if there’s anything you guys like about it or anythings that could be added. I could also potentially make it a more normal mini boss of some kind (give it more special attacks, an actual name, and things like that) for the bounty board as well if you think that’s a better idea

    The Beaked One 2nd Draft
A Humanoid Abomination that works like a Dungeon-specific (Only encountered in the Warrens) version of The Collector. Unlike the Collector, though, The Beaked One is only encountered in Lvl 3 dungeons and higher.
It looks a little like the traditional depiction of a Plague Doctor, but like the Collector, it towers over the adventurers.
It’s an Evasion Tank with a fair amount of HP, and attacks twice per turn, due to it being encountered alone and unable to summon allies. Its theme is Disease, both physical and mental. It has four attacks;’Plague Touched’ is a low damage melee attack, with a high blight chance that inflicts a strong blight (3 or 4 damage per turn) that lasts 3 turns. ‘Bad Air’ is a low damage, party-wide attack with a mid-high blight chance that inflicts a strong blight like the previous attack, and again lasts for 3 turns. Both of the previously mentioned attacks have a chance of inflicting a disease upon the target. The other two attacks are stress damage related. One is a single target stress attack, and can inflict an ‘increased Stress damage’ debuff, the other deals team-wide stress damage.

I’ve updated the Robed Flesh slightly, take a look and see what you guys think :).
(not sure if Robed Flesh should be a Bounty or a mission)

Depends, do you want him to be a random encounter? Or have a whole mission revolving around him?

Potentially, you could have it start off as a Notice; then once you manage to work it into a random encounter, have the option to hunt it down?

Sweet! I’ll see to adding it to the Bounty Board as we speak.

    Don’t worry, I kinda know the shenanigan OP’ness of a Dullahan 😛
Hence why I also kindareally wanted to make sure it wasn’t TOO close to the mythos. Rather, more an embodiment thereof.

Splendid suggestion! I assume your point is that my mini boss will start off as a notice (randomly encountering players in expeditions) then the characters will have to hunt it down to stop it’s nonsense (If the Robed Flesh is accepted of course.)

    Yes.

Random Encounters will be like adding a quirk to expeditions; you do NOT shove your monster into whomever’s expedition without consent. That’s just rude.

However, you may request your monster be encountered for that dungeon; either presuming the time, or rolling per post.

The Players may not know. The DM /MUST/.

I’ll be adding your bounty to the board soon. Have you any Bounty-Page you’d like me to put up? See; Hix’s little excerpt.

(I’m in a really terrible state, immunity system wise so my understanding of text is quite scattered)
1st: I have no idea what ‘The DM/MUST/’ stands for.
2nd: “However, you may request your monster be encountered for that dungeon; either presuming the time, or rolling per post.” I do apologise but I cannot grasp the meaning of this, do you mean where the encounters would take place or have I missed the plot entirely?
3rd: A Bounty-Page? I do not understand the suggestion, and yet again I apologise.
(I really have no idea why but I feel like an absolute prick for adding ‘1st,2nd,3rd’ and i can’t explain why.)

Reeling, about to Break… The Hamlet teeters upon monetary, architectural, physical… psychological, collapse.
The Tavern… Broken by a ravenous, gluttenous swinebeast.
The Abbey… Burned, smoking; Hellish landscape for a Divine sanctuary.
The Sanitarium… Plagued by lunatics who have naught but sadism in mind.
Only the Guild, the Smith, lay unmolested… For now.

Mercenaries… Failures, brandish arms against the Undying. And in their futility, gain Mercy…

    For how Long..?

A Man… narry, a moving stone formed like a man, prowls the icy hellscape of the Weald.
His quarry is unknown… Though man and beast alike are void, come he.

It is said he feasts upon those of daemonic fuel; Abominations… Occultists.
Mercenaries… Heroes, Failures; you have been warned…
    ////
Information upon Obitus will be gleaned the more he is encountered.

Current information has him just as a rumor

    He IS waiting…

Organization is nice 😀 Shame about your health though.

1.// The Players don’t have to know that the Monster is part of the Dungeon. The Dungeonmaster/Host MUST know, and you MUST get permission.

2.// This is your decision; if you intend for it to be a Notice/Random Encounter, then you will have to console with the Dungeonmaster to determine how your Monster will be encountered.

3.// Something for me to put onto the Bounty-Board, see:
    //THE DULLAHAN//
    Mr. Fondleworth, Fabric Trader,
“I saw it come out of the smoke on the Old Road. Rattling it’s bones at me. Crying out but it’s head was sitting on a spike… laughing at me… it was horrible.
He didn’t speak, he just laughed and whipped my horse clean in two. I… I ran, I left it all and I ran here… oh my poor beast. My livelihood is gone now.
I… I’ll pay anything, ANYTHING you want just get rid of that… DEAMON.”

Oh, so a drawing of some kind. Hmm, give me a few minutes, might be able to at least create something decent.
(OH GOD THE POST CAME UP AFTER I TYPED THIS! AND I HAD NO IDEA!)
Alright, a description of some kind, a reward and a little bit of backstory.

    No, not a drawing; it just has to be like words one would see on a Bounty Poster ;=;

The Obitus post was just to have OBitus’ own information collected somewhere.

This is why you don’t go fast…

A man with shattered mind and punctured body, wailing through the Weald and into the old road. The man hollers madness towards the stage coach heading towards the hamlet, “THE ROBED FLESH HAS COME! IT WILL NOT SHOW MERCY! IT WILL NOT SHOW WEAKNESS! FLEE WHILST YOU CAN, FOOLISH HUMAN! YOU WILL NO-” The mind broken man bellowing insanity ceases quickly and silently… the slight sound of vicious tearing can be heard from the man’s previous position. Clearly shaken and terrified, the stage coach driver whips his horses into gallop, afraid to be next… Once the stage coach arrives, rumour spread quickly of the Robed Flesh. But many disregard it’s existence, and assume the driver was drunk or mad.
“They shall regret calling me rumours…” The robed flesh echoed coldly.
    ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
The Robed Flesh shall be a Notice/Random Encounter, for the time being.

(I have chosen this creature as a bounty.) The backstory of The Gnashor: The undead didn’t choose their leader, nor their prophet of doom. But what they have chosen is a champion. The Necromancer tried to create a powerful beast of bone and steel, one that would kill and protect its master from harm. The reincarnation had gone well, too well. The necromancer underestimated the power of this Bone Giant which was its first mistake. The creature broke free of its masters control, and fled through the ruins, a beast untamed, with no thoughts other than to kill what got in its way. The necromancer developed a plan to cage the creature and it worked. The beast was led into a large room by minions of the Necromancer and once it was in completely they caused a Cave in. Trapped the beast tried to break out with no avail, finally it gave up and layed its bones to rest for a long time. Tales of this beast had spread through cultists and then to the hamlet, growing more and more vibrant with untold riches being buried with the beast. After many years went by people thought the beast would’ve decayed causing a brave group of 6 miners to go down into the ruins toward where an old map of cartography led to the beasts den. They found were the map ended and began digging their way into the cavern where that dreadful monstrosity lay. The miners soon entered and were disappointed to find no treasure, no untold riches just a large pile of bones and steal. Magic does not dissapear as fast as one may suspect and the spells that bonded the creature were awakened once more. It grew taller and bigger until it towered over the miners its skull the last thing to reassemble. The miners stared in horror and couldn’t move, to bad even if they did it would be their last, almost all of them at least. The beast’s eyes glowed a bright yellow before disappearing, and it let loose an ear splitting roar, charging the miners in newly found bloodlust crushing most of them. Except one, this miner fled quickly, the beast not following to busy with the others. Hearing one last sound, a word before escaping the ruins, this miner would spread the tale of this bone giant. “I swear this thing was a Titan over 8ft tall, it’s bones melded and fused with steal looking like a walking death trap. It’s yellow eyes that seemed to pierce your soul and suck you into deep immobilizing horror. And I swear to god it’s said this one word, and this one word only…. GNASHOR.” This creature wanders an abandoned area of the Ruins, the entrance marked off by the heirs order. It kills any adventures that try to brave it’s empty home, unable to leave for fear of being under control of the Necromancer who has grown stronger while it had grown weaker. The heir is offering a reward for it of the adventurers that kill it and even more if they bring back its head as more proof other than the wounds they would receive.
