    Character name: Grimoult
    Level Zero, Seeker Occultist

    Story:
    Grimoult was just a simple cultust in a small town, whose name has been long forgotten. He worked with a small group of men to awaken the ancient gods, or as the ignorant townsfolk called them, “unholy beasts that come straight from hell and need to be cleansed with holy fire!” Those imbeciles really thought that mere fire could even touch the eldritch gods. One night, Grimoult’s peaceful sleep was disturbed by one of those same gods. The ancient being wanted to make a deal. Grimoult would have to sacrifice the entire population of this small city, including the other cultusts, and in exchange he would recive unimaginable powers, and evey piece of information he wanted to know would be revealed to him. The man obviously accepted, and the deal was struck. Sacrificing the entire town was not simple, but it was possible. In fact, Grimoult managed to do it, by killing the other cultists in their sleep and setting fire to the whole town. That killed almost everyone, and those that survived were gutted. The next night he met that eldritch god again, and surprisingly, it stood up to its end of the deal. Grimoult was granted great powers, and many secrets, especially those regarding the occult, were revealed to him. The ancient being also told him something. There was a place, a dark estate, The Hamlet it was called, and it held many, many secrets. Secrets that maybe the men should never know. It was also a place radiating with power, and a suitable place for someone such as Grimoult. And so, this is where his story begins, and where it will probably end.

    Appearance:
    Grimoult appears as a small man, his features almost entirely covered by black robes. His clothes are obviously not suitable for his size, as they are much larger. Attached to these robes are various trinkets, belts and pouches, in which he keeps ancient scrolls, candles, and substances of unknown origin. His robes only reveal his hands, which are pale and scarred, especially his palms. His head is also covered by a black hood, but his face can be seen if you stand in front of him. Grimoult’s eyes are very strange, with a dark shade of pink. This is because he bears the taint of someone who has been in touch with an eldritch being. He has also been marked with an unknown symbol on his right cheek. Around the town Grimoult will be usually seen holding a tome, which he uses to cast his unholy spells.

    Backstory –

    Nick Duval lived a harsh and bitter life, especially during his youth. During his youth. Nick was left to fend for himself upon the streets of a rough, seaside town because his father had passed away and his mother abandoned him for another man. Over the years, Nick had become very skilled at pickpocketing to assassination. At the age of 26, Nick was introduced to a politician of sorts in one of the big city’s, the politician ordered that a rival of his be put down, Nick agreed to the contract and planned and sought out the rival. After two years went by, the rival politician met his end at a merchants market, with a single ball of lead, embedded in the man’s eye socket. The politician stated that the reward would be delivered at a nearby village in a nearby forest, which the politician provided his own guards, stage coach and even his own private prostitutes (which Nick Duval obviously endulged greatly along the trip.) Once there, Nick Duval removed himself from the stage coach and went into the nearby tavern, which was quite shoddy in appearance. Nick sat down at one of the tables and waited until midnight for the reward to arrive, once everyone had left and the tavern closed down, a masked individual entered the tavern from the back and sat in front of Nick, ‘So, you finally managed, huh?’ The masked man congratulated bitterly, ‘Well, here…’ The masked individual placed a small pouch of gold on the table, which was less than the contract stated,
    ‘What the fuck!? We had a deal!’ Nick yelled angrily, standing up from his chair and reaching into his overcoat with blinding speed, equipping his flintlock and aiming it in front of the man’s face. The masked man nodded towards one of the guards that escorted Nick Duval and he was quickly knocked to the ground with a powerful right hook to the back of the head, then Nick was carried out to the back of the Tavern, barely conscience and unable to move. The guards beat Nick Duval repeatedly, with brute force and pistol whips until sunrise. Once the sun graced the skies, the guards left and the stage coach left without Nick, leaving him unconscious in the dirt.

    After a couple of hours passed, Nick Duval awoke from his painful state of consciousness and began checking his belonging, which he sighed with relief as most items were left as they were, except the Gold Pouch. Bruised from the trickery and humiliated from Nick Duval’s lack of preparation and awareness, Nick walked along the road, away from the city and into the unknown. After a long trudging journey, Nick came across a bulletin board in the middle of nowhere, where only one note was left attached to it, Nick approached the board and ripped the note off to read it, ‘Dear adventurer or warrior, if you wish to seek glory, gold or redemption from wherever you may be, continue upon the road until you come across a once beautiful and noble hamlet. Beware however, this request is only for those with firm footing and unbreakable determination… those who slip, may not climb back up again.’ Upon finishing the rest of the note, Nick stashed it in one of his pockets, and continued his journey along the road.

    Only a couple minutes passed before a stage coach hollered to him, which was approaching him from behind. Nick traced his fingers along the brittle grip of his flintlock, and waited for the coach to approach, ‘Why hey there! Are you looking for the Hamlet?’ The stage coach driver asked curiously.
    “Why yes, I am in fact… why do you ask?” Nick probed, threatening the driver.
    “Well, I transport seekers and supplies to the Hamlet. If you truly wish to go towards the Hamlet, then hop on.” The stage coach driver indicated to the back of the stage coach, which was slightly packed with food and drink. Nick walked behind the stage coach, and climbed in; taking a seat on one of the food crates.

    Physical Appearance: An expensive overcoat mottled with dust and blood, Half of Duval’s face is obscured with a Red and black lumberjack pattern bandana which covers from his mouth to his chest but has been tied up to be shortened to his neck, Blackened leather boots, Jet black hair, short but grizzly beard, emerald green eye colour, a lightish tan, short but stern nose, serious lines adorning Duvals, his flintlock was of high quality once but hasn’t seen repair in ages making it rather brittle, barrel of flintlock has been degraded to a strong black shade (the engraving upon the barrel have been hidden, upon repair the engravings will begin to show a lot more), Duvals dagger is jagged and curved (resembling a gut hook but has the length of a bowie knife), hair is short, height is about 5 foot eleven.

    “Sho used to live in the Temple of the Fordragoon, situated on a remote mountain, far from all civilisation. He was abandoned at the temple’s steps by his parents since he was an infant, but fortunately the temple Master, Himonu Danu agreed to take him under adoption. The child began his trainning at a young age in order to learn the ways of the Fordargoon and succed his adoptive father as the new Master. Year by year he learned and fought with each of the temple monks, until the day to challenge his father for his title finally came. Little did he know, thought, that he will attain this title in the most unexpected of ways. In the night before the big day, an assassin would sneak into the temple as a refugee and pour poison in Sho’s cup of tea. The substance drove him into a bloody rampage, making him kill all the monks inside the temple and finally, the Master. The following day he woke up from his frenzy and realized what he has done. Pain and guilt filled his mind as he departed to seek penance, ultimately arriving in one of the most cursed places in the world: The Darkest Estate.”
