    Hey there kill, glad you enjoyed the video. I’ll try those new skill icons when I’m not grinding through the level 5 death spiral that seems to hit every campaign where one hero dies and you spend forever trying to train up a replacement (who probably also dies, then gets other valuable heroes killed as well and you have even more to replace) before daring to venture into the Darkest Dungeon.

    I still haven’t defeated the Brigand Vvulf yet. I understand the fight. He just gets me every time. It’s often just the sheer raw numbers that do it. I’ll beat him one day ‘though. One day. Then maybe I’ll be ready to venture into the end game but, for now, it’s probably all about taking a break from the Ravenloft campaign and switching over to one of the others again for a while :).

    Okay, so there’s good news, a little bit of bad news, and some more good news.

    The first bit of good news is that Scorpiovaeden has been able to create custom atlas & skel files in spine and get them working in game. I’ve tested a few of his latest character mods that use custom art assets and he’s doing okay. If we ask him very nicely he might be willing to help fix the animation problems we’re having with the Defend sprite and then, if killthemall wants to do something funky with sprites we might even be able to get custom atlas, skel & vfx from Scorpiovaeden.

    Now for the bad news. I tried to upload a private version of the mod to the steam workshop for friends only to test. There were a lot of upload errors and people got to spend days trying to work out why she wasn’t appearing in their stagecoach. Then a day or so later uploading broke for everyone but it’s been fixed now.

    The more good news is that I have now successfully managed to upload a working version for buddies to test. I checked it and it seems to be working. Things are progressing nicely :).

    So some good news, some meh news, and some really bad news.

    The good news is that I just got her in game from the workshop. So that problem seems to be fixed.
    She look really nice, well put art. I also like the custom skill icon alot. That is one part I do need some help on.

    The meh news is that I didn’t have the chance and time to test her out in full. Will try some more tonight.
    However, do feel that she stand out slightly in the game for her art. For more DD’s art flavor, would like to see a bigger head and thicker shadows. Also maybe don’t need the hair that cover the eyes? And would like to see more sword in action (seem she mostly hit people with the halt of the sword, instead of the blade). Not tried her defense yet, but can certainly use other hero’s defense anmation for that.
    Anyhow, its minor, and opinion stuff.

    The bad news is that my tooth hurts…… wuuuuuu

    Well wait a little. Her Glimmer of Hope skill just got a major overhaul. It’s a lot closer to what I originally intended. It now, correctly, removes stress from allies while seriously stressing her out at the same time. Hopefully Courage and Insight will be getting overhauled in the near future as well.

    Also hopefully killthemall will be able to deliver a final version of the cleave sprite :). Given that we can now create custom spine stuff and get it working in game it doesn’t need to fit into an existing frame.

    I am planning on making the head bigger for some of the sprites since I have noticed it’s a little smaller compared to the others. The shadows on the other hand is a no go since I am using the same shadows from the other characters without changing anything…unless you mean shadows as in coloring? Lastly I hope your tooth gets better soon

    Balgin can I get the stress relieved .atlas .png and .skel. I am redoing the point sprite. I will get on the spin attack afterwards (I find it a bit challenging to draw that one and have it looking right.) Correct me if I am wrong but we can now use two effects right?

    By shadows I believe he means the black lines could be a bit thicker in some places.

    I’m looking for a stress relieved atlas, png and skel. I’m not sure they go by that name. Are you talking the default visual effect that shows up when a hero’s stress is reduced? If so then all of those appear on one atlas, skel & png instead of being separate ones. I believe all the condition popups (stun, bleed etc) are on the same sprite. I slung them in dropbox in a new folder called Stress Halos in case it’s what you were wanting to look at.

    I’m not sure if we can use two effects.

    What I can do is let you know that I’ve received a big helping hand from someone and we’re tidying up the skills together. She could be ready to release soon (once the art assets are in). I’ll look forwards to seeing the new point image. Just remember that we (the modding community) can do custom spine stuff now so you don’t need to worry too much about making the sprites fit inside existing ones.

    I must admit I’m a little worried now. I do hope you only wanted the halo files for reference so you could check something would fit. I’m not feeling comfortable with editing a core game file that all other heroes and monsters also seem to use as that might make them all look wrong if it changes. I’m probably worried over nothing but killthemall moves in mysterious ways. I suppose I should just wait and see what comes next.

    nothing to worry about, I have figured out how the art and atlas files work. As long as you change the atlas file information and use an effect that fits what you want, you can mix and match without worrying about fitting the image into an already existing image. I was going to use the halo image for something but it doesn’t fit so I will have to go back to what I was trying.

    Alright. In the meantime Hack, Cleave, Slay the Beast & Glimmer of Hope have been seriously reworked (and are now being balance tested). Thematically they have not changed. Only mechanically.

    Okay, big, big skill overhaul….

    1: Hack (might get renamed something like Savage Slash) no longer grants accuracy and speed buffs. Instead it reduces a small amount of stress from her with each attack (a very small amount).
    2: Cleave (might get renamed to Whirlwind Attack) double knockback aoe, low damage, no longer stuns foes.
    3: Slay the Beast now automatically has a large damage penalty that decreases as the skill levels up. It now automatically crits against Beasts & Eldritch foes and fatigues the Twilight Knight after the attack.
    4: Strike to Stun (new skill). Pommel to the face! Single target front rank stun. Copied from the Crusader. Uses existing riposte art assets.
    5: Anticipation (new skill). She marks herself and enters a riposte stance. Every time she hits with a riposte attack she reduces the enemy’s stun resistance. She also gets a nice little dodge buff while the riposte ability is active. Uses existing self buff & riposte art assets.
    6: Glimmer of Hope. Now reduces stress from the entire party. Currently she then suffers the weight of all the stress she’s removed but this is abuseable and will be tweaked in the near future.
    7: Run to Ground. Has not been changed yet (and probably doesn’t need much of a change to be honest).

    Given that we can now do custom spine stuff (courtesy of Scorpiovaeden) what are the chances of this leaping fx coming back? I’m working on the skill overhaul at the moment and having that leaping attack would be quite awesome.

    I don’t need it urgently. Just checking if it’s been abandoned or might hopefully come back some day.

    Sorry for the late reply, was a bit occupied yesterday. It’s not abandoned. It’s on my to do list right after try to make the spin attack look right, fix the dodge, and some fixing here and there.

    Okay, in that case I should inform you that now the spinning attack targets the middle ranks (2 & 3) instead of the front 2. It knocks them back but doesn’t stun any more.

    Run to Ground has been replaced with Death or Glory. A mighty attack where she leaps up in the air, brings the blade slamming down, slightly winds herself and relies on her armour to take the hits while she regains her breath.

    Last night Scorpiovaeden made a quick attempt at trying to fix the defence sprite, atlas & skel in spine just so I could have a quick fix while you work on things. It’s almost (but not quite) there.

    Since custom atlas & skel files are now possible we might be able to bring back that lovely old sword over the shoulder pose that I used to like for her self buffs and I’m sure it can free up some possibilities for the spinning attack.

    If we could get the old pointing sketch stance back (side turned) that would be beautiful for Glimmer of Hope.

    The skill overhaul is now in the fine tuning phase although camping skills are about to be tackled tomorrow. Things are looking up.
